Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayyeb reiterated his Sunni institution support to Bahrain's unity and stability.
In a telephone call with Baharaini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa el-Tayyeb on the occasion of Eidul-Fitr, the Grand Imam expressed the Azhar's readiness to cooperate with Bahrain in the education and preaching fields, as well as training Bahraini clerics on countering extremist thoughts and tackling modern issues that emerged in Arab and Muslim worlds.
The king praised the leading role of el-Tayyeb in bringing about peace, and expressed his pleasure and appreciation to him over his call, saying he was a respected symbol to all Muslims.
King Hamad also hailed the deep-historic ties binding Bahrain with Egypt, and the strenuous efforts exerted by Azhar to counter extremism and terrorism.
Both of them exchanged good wishes on the advent of Eid Al-Fitr, wishing the Arab and Islamic nations a happy return of the occasion and more progress and prosperity.
