Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb on Saturday said that Arabs and Muslims should join forces to face Takfiri and extremist groups.

Tayyeb made his call during a meeting with a delegation of senior Kuwaiti public figures, currently visiting Egypt.

He warned against attempts to fuel sectarian strife and violence.

The delegation, for its part, thanked the grand Imam for his stance on the latest attack that targeted a mosque in Kuwait.

They stressed Kuwait's appreciation for Azhar's role in fighting terrorism, eliminating radical ideologies and spreading a culture of peaceful coexistence.
