Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb warned of plots aiming to undermine Arab countries by sowing sedition between Muslim Sunnis and Shiites.

The plots were seen in some Arab countries, destroying them completely and displacing their people, Tayyeb said in a recorded interview to be aired on the Egyptian satellite channel on Friday.

The shortest road to destroy and divide a nation is to raise differences between sects, he said.

Showing the relationship between Sunnis and Shiites as a religious war is a plan that no religion or civilization can approve, he added.
