Al Azhar hailed on Tuesday the formation of the Saudi-led Islamic military alliance against terrorism.
In a press statement, Azhar hailed as 'historic' the decision taken by Saudi Arabia on Monday to form this military coalition.
It also called on all Islamic countries to join this 34-state military alliance to fight all forms of terrorism.
Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that 34 nations have agreed to form a new Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism.
A joint operations center is to be established in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Saudi media reported.
Countries from Asia, Africa and the Arab world are involved in the alliance but Saudi Arabia's main regional rival Iran is not.
The alliance comes amid international pressure for Arab states to do more in the fight against Daesh terrorist group.
