Bahrain has strongly condemned the assassination of Egypt's Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat in a terrorist attack on his motorcade earlier in the day, the Bahraini News Agency reported.

Bahrain offered condolences to the Egyptian leadership, noting that this heinous attack contradicts the tolerant Islamic values and all heavenly religions.

Bahrain also asserted its backing of Egypt and all measures it will take to maintain its security and uproot all terrorist acts.

The statement also called on the international community to exert more efforts to eliminate terrorism which has become an increasing threat to all world countries.
