Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al-Khalifa chaired the first meeting of the Coordination Council for 2015. He extended heartfelt condolences following the sad demise of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
The panel addressed a letter of thanks to the Council of Ministers for approving a string of infrastructure development projects. It has also submitted a proposal to start upgrading Waley Al Ahd Highway at the section between Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway roundabout and Riffa gate roundabout.
The Governor urged the council members to update their data to include the new blocks, stressing the need to follow-up recommendations related to development projects and service-oriented schemes.
He commended the efforts of the Southern Governorate Police Directorate to maintain security, noting particularly the opening of a new police station at Durrat Al-Bahrain, in addition to a string of other service projects benefiting Durrat Al-Bahrain, Askar, Jaw and Al-Dur.
The Governor pointed out that work on Zallaq jetty has already started in cooperation with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning and the Southern Municipality, stressing the importance of the project for fishermen.
Social Development Ministry Undersecretary Sabah Salem Al-Dosary announced that training courses would be held to hone their skills of jobseekers and graduates.
