The First Vice - President of the Republic, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, Sunday evening returned home from Nouakchott, after attending the inauguration of the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Abdel-Aziz, for a new office term.
He was received at Khartoum Airport by the Vice - President of the Republic, Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman, and a number of ministers.
In a press statement, the Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, said that Sudan participation at the inauguration of President Ould Abdel-Aziz has provided opportunity to assure firmness of the Sudanese - Mauritanian relations.
He affirmed that Sudan is maintaining distinguished relations with Mauritania, referring to the cooperation and exchange between the two countries in the cultural, training and educational fields.
Karti referred to the investment of some Sudanese companies in Mauritania.
He said that the First Vice - President has met with the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Abdel-Aziz, and agreed on the importance of consolidating further the bilateral relations and cooperation between Sudan and Mauritania in all fields.
He referred to the stances of Mauritania in supporting Sudan at the regional and international forums as well as the historic cultural between the two peoples.
