Berlin hosts unofficial consultations

The unofficial consultations between the Sudanese government and the People's Movement-North Sector began Friday in Berlin where assistant president of Sudan and deputy chairman of the National Congress Ibrahim Mahmoud chaired the Sudanese side while Yassir Arman presided over the side of the People's Movement, Sudan News Agency reported.

Mahmoud expressed the government’s readiness for reaching peaceful settlement, and cessation of war, commending Germany's role in working for peace.

Arman underscored the People's Movement desire to work with open heart for reaching understandings to end the war and to work for resolving the differences peacefully.

Germany welcomed holding of the unofficial consultations, and hoped that they would lead to fruitful results, stressing Berlin’s readiness to support peace process in collaboration with the African Union and the other parties.

The AU representative expressed hope that the two parties could reach understandings that could boost efforts of peaceful settlement and end of war.
