An explosive device went off at a level crossing in Sharqiya on Thursday, cutting off part of the rail tracks and disrupting train traffic on Zaqaziq/Kafr Saqr and Zaqaziq/Salhia lines.

No casualties were reported.

Sappers combed the area to look for other explosives but nothing was found.

A Sharqiya railway official said a technical team is now installing a new track instead of the damaged one to resume train movement.
