Border guard forces on Monday foiled an attempt by 11 Egyptians to illegally immigrate to Malta via the Mediterranean coasts of Rashid City.

Beheira Security Director General Mohammad Fathi said a boat, carrying 11 Egyptians, was seized in Rashid quay before illegally sailing to Malta.

The detainees admitted that they have paid a sum of EGP 3,000 per person in order to illegally immigrate to Malta.

Prosecution was notified to launch a probe.
