Britain will step up its commitment in the war against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq by sending more UK troops, the Daily Mail reported.

Defense Secretary Michael Fallon on Friday announced 30 soldiers would be deployed to two training locations in the country to beef up the UK's role in the fight.

They will be tasked with teaching local forces how to build bridges, as well as logistics, and helping to train specialist medical staff in preparation for the recapture of key cities from the militants.

The soldiers will join some 270 troops already in four locations across the country, including Erbil, where they are training Peshmerga fighters.

They are expected to be sent to training bases at Besmayah and Taji, near Baghdad, in the coming weeks after a request by Iraqi.
