Security forces reinforced their presence all through the capital on Thursday as part of the plan to secure celebrations marking the inauguration of the new Suez Canal.

Police units were deployed at main squares while patrols were seen touring streets of the capital to check on security.

Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghafar, in an earlier meeting with his aides, has given orders to reinforce security presence on all main roads and axes.

He also urged security leaderships to be present among police personnel to raise their morale.
