Cairo security directorate celebrates the New Suez Canal due to be opened on Thursday, Cairo Security Director Khaled Abdel A'al said on Tuesday.

The celebrations included distributing Egyptian flags, posters and candy to citizens in most of Cairo's main and public squares, Abdel A'al added.

This comes in response to the interior minister's directives to share all national and religious celebrations with citizens, he asserted.
