Th captain of a boat that capsized in Warraq turned himself in to a police station, an official security source told MENA on Sunday.

The 20-year-old captain jumped from the boat while capsizing according to investigations, the source said.

The captain was referred to the public prosecution for investigation, the source added.

The death toll from the accident has risen to 38.

The accident took place late Wednesday when a passenger boat traveling down the Nile near Al Warraq collided with a barge, causing the boat to smash and capsize.
