The Cassation Court on Saturday annulled the rulings issued against 152 defendants in Matai violence incidents that took place in Minya in August 2013 in the wake of the ousting of Muslim Brotherhood-oriented president Mohammad Morsi.
The same case included 545 other defendants (mostly fugitives belonging to the blacklisted Muslim Brotherhood), with 37 of them were given execution sentenced, 491 given life jail sentences and 17 others were acquitted of charges.
The court also ordered the retrial of 152 defendants before a court district different from the one which issued the rulings
