Chinese President Xi Jinping met on Tuesday Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi, who started a two-day visit to Beijing earlier in the day.
The two leaders agreed to create strategic partnership between the two countries in the coming period.
The Chinese president said this strategic partnership is necessary to bolster bilateral relations.
He also expressed China's support for Iraq in its fight against terrorism.
Abadi urged Chinese investors to pump more investments into Iraq in the coming period.
He said his visit to China aims at bolstering ties with China in the fields of economy, energy communications and infrastructure.
