Civil defense troops and emergency teams of the Petroleum Ministry contained on Monday a fire that erupted earlier in a main gas pipeline that originates from Port Said and extends to Damietta, northern Egypt.

The teams are currently cooling the pipelines.

A huge fire broke out Sunday evening in the main gas pipeline in the Delta city of Damietta.

Firefighting squads rushed to the scene to put out the flames, while the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (Gasco) closed two valves.
