Unknown assailants shot dead a conscript on Thursday during a security campaign in Sharqiya governorate.

The armed men opened fire at security forces during the campaign in the town of Abu Hammad, leaving the conscript dead and another sergeant wounded.

A manhunt was launched to arrest the perpetrators.

The public prosecution was notified to launch a probe.
