Alexandria - MENA
The Alexandria Administrative Court upheld on Wednesday a decision by the transport minister to remove all transgressions on the international coastal road along the Mediterranean, saying it is a main artillery for development and investment in Egypt.
The development of the international coastal road is a strategic project that should be preserved away from any encroachments, the court said.
The court was ruling in a lawsuit filed by a citizen against the transport minister's decision to remove his unlicensed building and an eight-meter-long chicken barn along the road.
The defense minister has earlier issued a decision dividing desert areas located on the international coastal road to areas of military importance and areas for setting up projects.
Under the latest decision, the Defense Ministry would examine all applications for setting up projects on this important road and see how far they contribute to making a real development in the country before giving its permission.
