Cairo Criminal Court decided on Saturday to hold Muslim Brotherhood member Israa al Taweel under house confinement pending further investigations in the case of electronic and media commissions of the terrorist Brotherhood organization.
The measure was taken instead of holding her in custody in line Artricle 201 of the panel code.
During investigations, Taweel confessed that she agreed to participate in an operation to assassinate a senior state official following the dispersal of Rabaa al Adaweiya sit-in in August 2013, in cooperation with other members of the terrorist group.
During an interrogation with Taweel at the state security prosecution headquarters in Cairo, Taweel said she took part in the demonstrations of the Muslim Brotherhood and decided to avenge the killing of her MB friend Asmaa El Beltagi.
The investigations revealed that Taweel was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood committees which were formed by the group members abroad to incite against the state institutions, army and police and that she used to send videos to pro-Muslim Brotherhood channels such as Mekamelin, Misr Al Aaan and Al Sharq.
