Minister Tareeq Qabeel

Exhibitions of Damietta furniture will be organized in all Egyptian governorates to promote for the products, Trade and Industry Minister Tareeq Qabeel said on Sunday.

He said the exhibitions will be organized in tandem with the Local Development Ministry.

During a plenary meeting with Damietta MPs, Local Development Minister Ahmed Badr Eddin and Damietta Governor Ismail Taha, Qabeel said the exhibitions will display products of small workshops.

He noted that a modern lab for testing the furniture quality will be opened in Damietta next month.

He said coordination is underway with the housing ministry to set up low-price furniture exhibitions close to social housing projects to help both producers and owners of these units.

Badr Eddin said his ministry will coordinate with governors suitable places for Damietta furniture exhibitions.

He called for setting up an authority grouping owners of Damietta small workshops to facilitate communication with them.

One of the MPs complained that the Damietta governorate suffers from stagnation in furniture marketing, a matter that caused a large number of small workshops to close down.

The trade minister had taken measures to limit importing 50 commodities, including furniture, to avoid allowing importation of such low quality products which affect domestic industries.
