Darul Iftaa stressed on Monday that greeting Christian Copts on their feasts is permissible and was ordered by Allah.
"Greeting Copts is a form of righteousness," the body responsible for issuing fatwas (religious edicts) said in a statement in response to recent "odd calls" banning greetings to non-Muslims on their religious occasions.
It also stressed that accepting presents from non-Muslims is religiously acceptable.
"Extending greetings on these occasions strengthens the foundations of the national unity and confirms the tolerance and greatness of Islam," it added.
