A total of 447 persons were hit on Wednesday by heat exhaustion due to the heatwave in Egypt, the Health Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Fifteen persons out of the 447 were killed while 220 were discharged from hospital after receiving medical treatment, the ministry said.

As many as 76 persons were killed since the start of the heatwave, the ministry further said.
