Khartoum - SUNA
The Secretary General of the National Congress, Dr. Hassan Abdalla Al-Turabi, has stressed the importance of making a success the national dialogue at all levels toward paving the way for development, stability, peace and discarding tribalism.
This came in his address to a symposium held Sunday evening at the Bar Association Club on the proposed constitutional amendments.
Dr. Al-Turabi has underscored the importance of adherence to patriotism and coexistence between the people of Sudan so as to avoid splits in the country, like the splitting of South Sudan.
He said that the political parties have never taken part in the self-determination and enactment of laws.
Dr. Al-Turabi stressed that there shall be clarity in the controversial articles of the Constitution, such as the article of lands and its affiliation to the central government or the governments of the states.
He said that there is no need to amend the article on holding trials for the police forces.
Dr. Al-Turabi indicated that the constitution has supported tribalism and paved the way for sedition based on stipulation to the election of Walis (governors).
He said that the current situation in the country is responsible for immigration of the skillful cadres and the outbreak of tribal disputes.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of the extraordinary committee for amendment of the Constitution, Badria Suleiman, said that the federal government system is the best rule system, stressing that the outcome of the national dialogue shall be obligatory for organs of the state.
