The current situation in Lebanon makes it necessary to achieve unity in the country and help the Lebanese government in its bids to protect the Lebanese people, Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Zayed said on Wednesday.

Zayed made the statements during a meeting with former Lebanese president Michel Suleiman.

They discussed the latest developments in the region as well as the ongoing anti-terror war.

Zayed reiterated Egypt's support for Lebanon in such difficult circumstances, calling on the Lebanese people to choose a president as soon as possible.
