The cabinet approved on Thursday amending article 33 of the anti-terror law to cancel imprisonment of journalists and impose between EGP 200,000 and 500,000 fines instead in case of broadcasting or publishing false news on Armed Forces, police and security bodies.

The announcement was made by Cabinet Spokesman Hossam Qawish.

The spokesman added that the council of ministers discussed the motion submitted by Head of the Journalist Syndicate Yehia Qallash.
