Arab League

Egypt has called on Arab countries to condemn the criminal act committed against Egyptians in Libya in a show of solidarity by the Arab League to Egypt in its measures to uproot terrorism and extremist thoughts and asked for a commitment by the Arab countries to jointly cooperate in this regard at all levels.
Addressing the Arab League Council consultative meeting, which opened earlier in the day, Egypt's Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Tareq Adel asserted that Egypt will not stand hand-cuffed in the face of terrorism and pledged to pursue its efforts in defense of its citizens and national security.
He said the moves taken by Egypt are based on its right to defend itself and protect its nationals abroad and come in line with the Arab League Charter, including Article II of the joint Arab defense agreement signed in 1950 and Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The Egyptian delegate also praised the stances of the Arab countries which swiftly condemned this criminal act.
The Arab League and its secretary general Nabil Al Araby condemned the terrorist criminal act and denounced all acts of terrorism in the region.
