The Egypt-led UN Counter-Terrorism Committee held on Friday an unofficial meeting to discuss Iraq's technical requirements to fight terrorism, a spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.
In press statements, Ahmed Abu Zeid said representatives of Iraq, several UN members states and 16 NGOs attended the meeting for the first time since the launch of the international organization.
At the start of the meeting, Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Amr Abul Atta asked the attendees to observe a minute of silence for the victims of recent terrorist attacks in Iraq and Belgium.
