The National Defense Council (NDC) convened on Sunday under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to discuss the latest developments and the security situation in the country.
The meeting covered efforts exerted and progress of military operation to fight terror in Sinai.
During the meeting, the council approved extending army missions abroad to protect the Egyptian and Arab national security in the Arab Gulf, the Red Sea and Bab Al Mandab Strait.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, Minister of Defence Sidqi Sobhi, Minister of Finance Hani Demian, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Interior Magdi Abdel Ghaffar in addition to chief of staff of the armed forces, chief of Egyptian intelligence and commanders of the key branches of the Egyptian army.
