The Justice Ministry agreed to upgrade courts across the nation to be able to offer customized judicial services to people with special needs.

Justice Minister Ahmed el Zend signed on Thursday a cooperation protocol in this regard with Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali and representatives of the Egyptian Federation of Organizations for People with Special Needs, which groups more than 40 societies concerned with disabled persons.

Under the protocol, New Cairo court will be developed within few weeks to offer comprehensive and high-quality services to persons with disabilities. The services will be later applied to all Egyptian courts and notary offices.

Zend, in statements after the signing ceremony, said more attention should be paid to people with special needs, noting that the ministry's human rights sector set up a file to protect the rights of persons with special needs.

The protocol also provides for training staffers at courts on the best ways of dealing with different disabilities so that they can offer better services.
