Beirut - MENA
Lebanese politician and President of the People's Congress Kamal Shatila has said Egypt, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, plays an important role in defending Arab national security.
"Egypt backs the national government in Libya, negotiates with Sudan, seeks to end Syria turmoil," he added.
Shatila underscored the importance of the recent tripartite energy agreement between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus, saying it would help curb the Turkish and Israeli influence in the Mediterranean.
He accused foreign interference of spreading political unrest in the region.
