Celebrates 1952 revolution

The Egyptian Embassy in Kigali has celebrated the July 23, 1952 Revolution anniversary with a number of Rwandan government officials.

According to a statement by the foreign ministry in Cairo, the event was attended by the Rwandan ministers of trade and industry, infrastructure, disaster management, agriculture, along with officials from the ministries of foreign affairs and health.

Addressing the participants, Egyptian Ambassador Numeirh Najm stressed the importance of cooperation between the African partners to face terrorism.

The Egyptian government is determined to revive its leading role in Africa by supporting development projects, she said.

The diplomat presented a timeline for relations linking Cairo with Kigali and plans to push ties up to the next level.

The ambassador left the floor to Rwanda's Minister of Infrastructure Hon. Musoni James.

James expressed his country's support to Cairo in fighting terrorism, expressing thanks to Egypt over backing Kigali's plans of development.

He announced two memos of understanding to be signed by both sides to bolster cooperation in the fields of security and infrastructure.
