The Egyptian Embassy in Italy and the General Consulate in Milan opened their doors early Monday to Egyptian expatriates to cast their ballots in the runoff elections of the second phase of the parliamentary elections.
The voting process, to continue until Tuesday, is being held amid intensive security measures.
The runoff covers the governorates of Cairo, Qalyoubiya, Daqahliya, Menufiya, Gharbiya, Kafr el Sheikh, Sharqiya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai.
A total of 37,141 Egyptian expatriates voted in the first phase of the second phase that took place between November 21 and 23 for Egyptians abroad and in the country. This marks an increase of around 22 percent compared to expat votes in the first stage in October.
