President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Saber Chowdhury on Tuesday said Egypt is expected to restore its membership in the next IPU meeting, slated for March 17-21 in Zambia.
Following a meeting with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Chowdhury told MENA that the House of Representatives must submit an official request to the IPU to restore Egypt's membership that was previously frozen until the election of a new parliament.
He added that an Egyptian parliamentary delegation would be invited to attend a joint meeting with the United Nations in New York.
