The Karnak Temple in Luxor was not affected by a fire that gutted its fence early on Sunday, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Amin said.

He added that grass around the temple caused the blaze.

Firefighters managed to quickly put out the fire.
