Defense Minister Sedky Sobhy hailed on Monday the role of the southern military region in defending the country.
In address to the region's officers and soldiers, Sobhy lauded their preparedness to face all risks and threats that endanger national security.
He also praised the zone's contribution to economic development projects in line with the Armed Forces' belief that development in Upper Egypt is a strong foundation for the structure of the state.
The army chief greeted the the southern military zone officers on Ramadan.
