Cairo - MENA
Egypt was appointed as a member of the executive council of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) affiliated to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), said Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Hisham Badr.
The membership will be between 2015 and 2017.
The elections was held on Wednesday where Egypt got 93 votes; the highest between the Arab countries.
In a press statement, Badr underlined that winning in that polls enhances Egypt's stance at the cultural and international levels.
