Abuja - MENA
Egypt's Ambassador to Nigeria Ashraf Salama has said that the recent Egyptian raids on terrorist targets in Libya were meant to protect Egyptians regardless of their religion.
Egypt has the right to defend itself and its citizens, Salama said at a press conference in the Egyptian Embassy in Abuja on Wednesday.
The diplomat condemned the heinous crime carried out by terrorists in Libya against 21 Egyptian nationals.
The air strikes on Daesh targets were carefully studied, Salama said, assuring no civilians were among the casualties.
He called on the world community and African countries to unite in the face of black terror.
Salama particularly urged Nigeria to cooperate with Egypt in the fight against terrorist organizations in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan region.
Terrorist groups in North Sinai are similar to Boko Haram in Nigeria, Salama said, noting both are adopting radical ideologies under the name of Islam.
