President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi

Egypt has restored its soft power worldwide under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, said Sameh Amr, Egypt's ambassador to UNESCO and head of UNESCO Executive Board.

In statements to MENA Friday, Amr said that the International Conference on the Protection of Monuments, which wrapped up in Cairo Thursday, sent a message to the whole world that Egypt is keen on actively participating in the protection of world heritage.

Egypt floated a proposal during the conference to amend a UNESCO agreement issued in 1970 to ban the import, export and transfer of cultural properties.

He called on the international community to exert concerted efforts to protect archaeological property and protect it against looting.

He called for approving all relevant international conventions to maintain human heritage for the sake of future generations.
