The foreign ministry hosted on Wednesday talks with Russia on cooperation and counter-terror.

Assistant foreign minister for international legal affairs Mahmoud Sami and plenipotentiary Khaled Azmy, the head of the counter-terror unit at the foreign ministry, chaired the Egyptian delegation.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov led the Russian side.

The discussions focused on ways to promote cooperation particularly in the counter-terror domain.

They exchanged viewpoints on the issue and regional and international challenges.

The issue of foreign fighters with terrorist group was also mulled during the meeting.

They asserted the necessity to drain the resources of terrorism.
