Assistant to Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Ambassador Tareq Adel has chaired Egypt’s delegation at a conference held in France to discuss the crisis of Syrian refugees.

The conference was organized by the Center for Mediterranean Integration with the participation of representatives from several Arab and European countries and world organizations, mainly the United Nations and World Bank, said a statement by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

Egypt’s participation in this conference was part of efforts to develop a practical plan to help countries hosting Syrian refugees.

Egypt bears its responsibility towards the Syrian people, Adel reiterated, adding that Egypt hosted more than 300,000 refugees.

In Egypt, the Syrians are treated as Egyptians, especially with regard to services in many fields, including health and education, he noted.
