Egypt will hand over the presidency of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) to Gabon in March 2017, Environment Minister and head of the AMCEN Khaled Fahmy said on Thursday.
In exclusive statements to MENA, the minister said the next meeting for the conference will be held in mid-April.
The ministry is currently preparing for the conference that will be participated by a number of African delegations.
The conference is expected to discuss means of fostering African relations in various environment fields.
Meanwhile, Fahmy added that Egypt is currently working in several arenas concerning environment including coordinating with members of AMCEN office, UN program for environment, African Union, implementing outcomes and resolutions of the 15th round as well as representing African ministers in talks with concerned counties and international organizations concerning environment issues.
