Egypt will host on Monday a conference under the rubric "The Syrian opposition for the sake of political solution in Syria."

A host of Syrian opposition figures will attend the two-day conference.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will attend the opening session of the conference, which will be held under the sponsorship the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECAF).

Syria has been gripped by constant fighting since anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict that has killed more than 220,000.
