Egypt will introduce some initiatives and proposals during the 24th session of African Union (AU) summit, aimed at boosting cooperation among countries, the presidential spokesman said Thursday.
Alaa Yousef said the participation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reflected Egypt's growing interest in boosting ties with the African countries.
The proposals are expected to meet the African peoples' aspirations and ambitions, Yousef added.
The meetings' agenda will include several important issues concerning Africa, such as empowering women, climate change, disputes in some African countries, and the risk of terrorism, Yousef said.
The African leaders will also discuss ways of fighting Ebola virus, and rally all international and African potentials to wipe out such fatally epidemic, he added.
Sisi arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa Thursday afternoon to take part in the Summit, which will kick off on Friday, with the participation of more than 40 heads of state and governments.
