Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Badr el Din Zayed voiced hope that the recent political developments in Lebanon would help end the current presidential vacuum.

In statements following his meeting with Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri, Zayed said the top Lebanese lawmaker congratulated Egypt for the convening of the House of Representatives' sessions.

Cairo also supports ongoing efforts by Berri and Lebanese political powers to help return the work of the Lebanese government to normal.
