Ambassador Mohamed badreldin zayed

Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Badr el Din visited Sunday the colleagues of the Egyptian tourist, who drowned in Jeita Grotto, at their hotel in Beirut.

Badr el Din assured them that the embassy was closely following the investigations into the incident, and would take all the measures for moving the body of the slain tourist to Egypt.

Speaking to MENA, the Egyptian diplomat said they felt sorrow for such tragic incident and the inaccurate news reports circulated by the media about a stampede that led to the drowning of the tourist Mina Ashraf.

Badr el Din expressed his confidence in the Lebanese judicial system, which would transparently and fairly tackle the incident.

Ashraf's colleagues said they were a large group of tourists on board the boat inside the Grotto, while young Ashraf was standing alone. When he tried to lean against the iron bars, he accidentally slipped in between the separating space and fell into the water, which led to his drowning and death, especially that they were not provided with survival vests.
