The anti-drug authority has detected 429 tons of sedatives and 158 million pills over the past year.
Director of the authority Major General Ahmed el Kholi made the announcement in a press conference Wednesday.
He was reviewing an annual report, the 85th, on efforts of the authority to counter drug dealing.
Officers and soldiers will continue to act strenuously to counter and end the drug problem in Egypt and to protect Egyptians, Kholi told reporters at the HQ of the anti-drug authority.
