Cairo - MENA
Egypt's Armed Forces have thwarted attempts to smuggle weapons, narcotics and goods into Egypt via its border with Libya.
Border guards seized seven automatic and sniper rifles, two bird-shot guns, three rifle magazines and 2,000 carcinogenic cigarette packets while being smuggled into the country through Siwa district, the Armed Forces said on Sunday.
Also, 149 persons were arrested before illegally sneaking into Libya.
Attempts to smuggle 80 kg of hashish and 5 tons of bango were foiled in Salloum and Suez Gulf.
