Cairo - MENA
The Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs mourned on Friday the death of king Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz of Saudi Arabia, saying his death is a great loss to the Islamic nation.
Head of the council Ambassador Mohamed Shaker told MENA that King Abdullah's efforts will never be forgotten in settling Arab problems, closing Arab ranks and working for a settlement in the Middle East region.
"We will never forget the Arab Initiative which he launched at the Arab summit in Beirut in 2002 and which will always serve as a basis for a fair solution to the Palestinian issue," he said.
King Abdallah's unwavering support of Egypt is also unforgettable, he added.
