Minister of Culture Abdel Wahed el Nabawi denounced the attack on the motorcade of Prosecutor General Counselor Hisham Barakat earlier Monday, saying any terrorist attempts will only make the Egyptians more determined to confront extremism and evil hands trying to destabilize their homeland.

Egypt will remain the edifice of moderate thought and the source of culture with all its intellectuals and cultural movements, he said.

The ministry, in cooperation with the various ministries and religious institutions, is exerting efforts to confront terrorist intellects and fanaticism through spreading peace and tolerance among the citizens, he added.

Barakat escaped the assassination attempt but was injured.
